GoT engaged me from the start, in large part because I liked the characters, but additionally, because they seemed to matter. You could tell early on that they were going to shape things to come. That their actions would have world changing consequences. Another reason was the world building. It didn't take long to get a greater sense of all the cogs and wheels that made the world work. The countries, treaties, politics, allies, enemies and so on. AKotSK is missing most of those elements, so far. The introduced characters in ep1 just didn't seem to matter in the greater scheme of things. There is no sense of what is going on the world or the state of the world in general. Granted, its early on. I do like some of the characters and their is lots of room (more episodes) for some of my shortcomings to be addressed. But so far, I am kinda bored with it. Looking at the responses and ratings, I seem very much in the minority. I guess we will see how things play out as the series continues. I am open to changing my opinion.
