Adulthood 2025 720p WEB-DL x264

Watched at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Nope, this movie ain't going for me at all. Dark comedies and wacky stories are movies I can get behind but by simply trying to desperately be fun with bad chemistry, annoying characters, and humor that doesn't stick to the landing ground doesn't do a service to the comedic tone and purpose. Alex Winter clearly wants to make a Coen Brothers thriller comedy but the directing on the writing, atmosphere and subject feels thin. The way it's been constructed feels messy, as the tone is all over the place, the production is cheap, and the characters are REALLY annoying and uninteresting, particularly the character of Josh Gad, I didn't believe a single word from his character. Kaya Scodelario tries as she is giving the best performance to her ability. But still, the humor aspects were unfunny, the writing is bad, the dialogue is poor, and many attempts on trying to be funny and crazy feels forced and rushed. Overall, simply bad.
