The story is about 4 native kingdoms who are at war with each other to crown a king of Hawaii. Most of the dialogue is in their native Hawaiian language. Be prepared to read subtitles. Jason Momoa plays the lead. His character is a former chief who abandoned his kingdom to build a family in peace. I'm not sure how accurate the wardrobe and traditions are in comparison to actual Hawaiian natives but the acting is excellent. This was mostly filmed in New Zealand. I would have liked it more if it was actually filmed in Hawaii. The pacing is a bit slow but the show has some suspense to it. I feel like the plot is kinda predictable. Jason's character inevitably becoming king/uniting all 4 nations after countless battles and deaths of loved ones. I'm afraid this could end up being just another Jason Momoa series. Regardless, I look forward to seeing more.
