...The premiere episode did not feel like how a pilot should be, as a matter of fact it felt like the third or fourth episode in a series. Simply put, too much plot 'mumbo jumbo' for a single sitting - not that that is a bad thing per se but a good rule of thumb in screenwriting is to try to limit one huge concept per story and over time once you've established enough your audience will be engaged enough to go right along having digested all concepts prior to. So, we know what the show is about from the marketing - alien ship debris fell to Earth - so why not make the first episode about the impact? But my issues aside, does this series show promise? Yes, it does. The leads are great, there is heart, there is genuine emotion, and the dramatic elements are handled quite well. I do think there could be a little more levity but maybe in time. Hopefully at the end of the season my opinion will be even more in favor of the program, we shall see.
