Pretty much everyone hates going to the DMV. I suspect many of the writers fall into that demographic. Unfortunately, that seems to be a prerequisite for the job. While the premise has promise, the execution in the pilot is pretty poor. The episode is way overpacked with hit-or-miss jokes. The gags are mostly low-hanging fruit; driving tests from hell, unreasonable, angry customers, a pair of outside folks reviewing the office, and other stereotypical gags. Standard, less-than-amusing, uncreative fare. The acting is OK, but no one stands out. Tim Meadows as Gregg gives his usual workmanlike perfomance. Harriet Dyer as Colette is all over the map and mostly over the top. The others are completely unmemorable. As others have pointed out, at there's no laugh track. That, at least, is a definite plus. All things considered, it's not off to a good start. Perhaps it will improve. Perhaps it won't. I'll give it one more episode, then it's thumbs up or down.
