This show is just ridiculous. Everything feels forced, especially the attempts at dark humor that just land horribly. The music is absolutely AWFUL and as jarring as the clunky, discordant script. The characters are more caricatures, and the idea that a nosy neighbor who is an art conservationist by trade rather than anything related to law enforcement or MI5 would go to such lengths at all let alone for a stranger neighbor is just dumb. I'm all about all kinds of stories and mysteries, realistic or otherwise; if they are finessed into something truly entertaining and watchable, I'll appreciate it. Sadly this show seems to be relying on the talent they hired and vague production ties to the success of a completely other show based on an amazing series of books (Slow Horses) to carry it by mere existance rather than actually working to make it something good in its own right. Woefully missing an editing eye and therefore comes off like a first draft. I finished the whole first episode to give it a fair chance, and HARD PASS--zero interest in watching more.
