The series tries to argue that no one knew who von Braun was, and somehow slipped under the radar and got straight into being the head of NASA. Common, guys, we're not that stupid! It's public knowledge that the American government traded von Braun's know-how on building rockets for the responsibility of many tens of thousands of war crimes. So, when World War II ended, von Braun a known and confirmed war criminal and other members of his team many of them equally responsible for the atrocities committed during the V program were brought to Texas as part of a CIA operation called Project Paperclip, where they continued to develop rockets for the U.S. government.
