I enjoyed this highly flawed show which truly had "high potential". It's a captivating show, especially because of the cases - they're rarely straightforward. Each one feels like an onion you have to peel, full of twists and unexpected layers that keep you engaged. The acting is decent too, and the chemistry between the characters works on screen. That said, there are some major issues that are hard to ignore. 1. The premise feels odd. Why does a woman with such a high intellectual profile work as a cleaner? It feels like a stretch - almost a forced way to make her seem "relatable" when it doesn't quite fit the character's brilliance. 2. The styling is confusing. Morgan dresses like she's stuck in the 90s, and not in a nostalgic or quirky way - more like it's unintentionally tacky. 3. Everyone else suddenly seems incompetent. Once she starts consulting for the LAPD, it's as if all the detectives around her lose their basic investigative skills. She's portrayed as the only one capable of solving cases, which makes the dynamic feel unrealistic. 4. She's written more like a search engine than a person. Having high intelligence and an exceptional memory is one thing, but she's treated like a walking encyclopedia who has read and memorized everything ever written. She rarely researches anything - it just pops into her head on command. She's human, not Google. 5. The tone can be a bit much. Morgan's personality is loud - in her speech, energy, and even in how she interacts with her kids. It's meant to be endearing and lively, but sometimes it crosses into overwhelming. Overall, High Potential has interesting cases and a fun premise - but it leans too hard into making its heroine superhuman. If the writers toned down the "genius knows everything" trope and gave more credit to the rest of the team, it could strike a better balance between brilliance and believability.
