At first I thought En el barro was going to be a predictable and boring series, just another story among Netflix's endless options. However, it truly surprised me: after a beginning that didn't feel especially strong, the pace picked up quickly and by the second episode I was completely hooked. The plot manages to keep the tension high while balancing the rawness of the situations with moments of deep humanity. What I value the most are the performances: the actresses are fantastic, full of strength, and they make you feel part of that harsh and claustrophobic world. The direction and overall staging add a relentless rhythm that leaves no room to breathe and makes you want to watch "just one more episode." In short, it went from being a series I thought I would forget to becoming one of my recent favorites. Now I'm eagerly waiting for the second season, because I feel we've only seen the beginning of something much bigger.
