I've read the book a while back. I've watched both the Swedish and American movies twice. The television show isn't as dark or chilling, and the characters do not have the same level of "human" connection and emotional chemistry. And the narrative and visual effects are mostly different and "tone-down." That said, where is the horror? I am not saying it is a bad show. I am saying it is not as good as the book or the movies, in my opinion. I will continue watching the remaining episodes to see if the narrative gets better. So far, the first three episodes feels "dragged out" and slow in storytelling.
