I watch all 3 NCIS's faithfully. Each is a different flavor, and needs viewers who don't expect any of the 3 to be alike. Gibbs is a stodgy hardass with a hidden soft spot, in a D.C. cubicle farm, because that's mostly how D.C. is. L.A. set is somewhat Spanish mission style, lots of car chases, and Hettie is supernatural - which I can tolerate because I love Linda Hunt and she can carry that air of mystery most of the time. New Orleans in an old brick in the Quarter, Pride and his agents have a more familial relationship, and enjoy their time together, especially in the kitchen. Each group has it's own way of doing things, each leader has their own style, and maybe you have to travel immersive-ly a little to appreciate (understand) the cultural differences of the 3. If you don't get that, then stick to your comfort zone. I can't fathom cubicles in New Orleans. Or LA. BORING. Specifically now, New Orleans: yeah, Scott can't seem to get the accent down. It changes with every episode. He's not an awesome actor, but he's good and improved (sounding less like an audio book) with age. Seems Scott's one of those actors people either love or hate, and if you're a hater, it's probably best you not watch this series. Lucas Black is a 'Bama native and that's why his accent isn't a New Orleans accent, and why they brought it up from time to time that Agent LaSalle is from Alabama. Lucas won't take a roll in any production that wants him to adopt another accent, and yes that really is his natural way of speaking. Sebastian becoming an agent was a bit of a stretch, but not everyone can be a superhero. CC (Loretta) is an underappreciated veteran and I feel she's the subtle anchor of this cast. She an advocate and activist for the AIDS community and the wrongfully imprisoned. Triple P is a hoot, Chill is an advocate for disabled actors and I think Scott had something to do with bringing on a disabled actor. Gregorio is an in your face New Yorker (a lot of New Yorkers are like that), she's supposed to be loud and sarcastic and strong, and NCIS needed a gay character in one of the offices. Do you really not know ANYONE who's gay? Percy had street smarts from her childhood and working on her own with the DEA, she had to be a tough and resourceful smartass who could fit in smoothly with the gangs and lords she had to infiltrate. Looks like some folk have issues with strong female characters? My least favorite is Agent Khoury, not because she's ugly, which she's not, but because she seems to not quite fit in. I don't dislike the actress or her character and maybe with time she'll find her niche. Maybe they don't eat shrimp and grits for breakfast, but New Orleans loves and revolves around it's unique cuisine, so the squad "room" having a fully equipped kitchen is not a stretch. (I'm just wondering if anybody puts away the leftovers when they have to run out on a case.) If that kitchen was in the D.C. cubicle farm, that WOULD be unbelievable. NO's also love their music and Scott has had a hand bringing in a lot of indie/alt musicians, and trying to source more locally. I have to say, love it or hate it, NCIS: New Orleans has made an effort to employ a diverse cast, make a location an actual location, and locally source a lot of the crew. IMO most of the music is great, some of the writing sucks, sometimes the acting is forced, sometimes the directors don't "get" cameras or a thrust stage and viewers get seasick, and the show's had it's ups and downs. Those of you whining about no Navy in New Orleans anymore, please remember this is a fictional series. If you like a quirky procedural and/or some of these quirky actors and/or appreciate diversity, or can be non-judgemental about stuff, give this a chance. I hope it lives on a while longer.
