I knew nothing about this movie going in. I know of Ryan Phillippe, always thought well of his acting. Not sure how to classify this film, maybe an adventure/action thriller of sorts. First 35 minutes or so were boring, a slow-developing story. Ex-army dad and estranged typically angry high school senior daughter set out to visit universities, and stumble into a nightmare situation of abduction and their survival. Turns out that there's a clan of folks, with some sort of personal 'justice seeking' ax to grind, looking to capture young girls, of which Phillippe's daughter is one, and army dad sets out to find and rescue her, wreaking some havoc along the way. Lots of cliched scenarios at times and some decent action, but nothing ground breaking here. A revenge factor keeps it interesting as well, even if the lead-ups to the circumstances are a bit creepy and barely plausible. The actors were some good and bad, in my opinion at least. The daughter seemed a bit old looking for her supposed age, but was believable enough at times. While I didn't overly like this movie, it held my interest until the end. So can't say I didn't like it either. For whatever that's worth, give it a try - or not. It's that kind of take-it-or-leave-it movie. Will appeal to some, not to others. Probably deserves a hair over a 5 rating, but not close enough to a 6.
