It's not "scary" necessarily. But the subtle terror that hides behind the old children's tale of the Pied Piper is what makes this movie worth watching. It follows a woman, Naomi, and her son who've recently moved from California to her hometown in Texas due to recent loss. She's a washed up musician trying to navigate life as a single mother in a hometown where she and her son feel entirely out of place. As she deals with her grief and reconnects with an old friend, she notices unnerving changes in her son's behavior which leads her down a windy road of great plot twists, many WTF moments and thought provoking religious and philosophical themes. Great ending. Solid film.
