The Copenhagen Test (2025) is a science fiction spy thriller television series streaming on Peacock that follows a first-generation analyst who realizes his brain has been hacked, allowing access to his senses and while he is stuck between the agency and the hackers, he has to act normal to reveal the culprits. This is a show that I have been following for a couple of months as it was going to star Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera in the leading roles. As the release date got closer, I started to notice the hype for this show from fans of the leads which made me happy to see and after binging the entire show in one day, I can safely say that the hype was well earned because this show freaking rules. Positives for The Copenhagen Test (2025-): This is one of the most interesting and creative stories for a spy thriller series that I've seen since a number of the James Bond movies and I don't say that about shows or movies in this genre. You have this story about a guy trying to prove that he didn't betray his country and is willing to do everything to prove that. You also get some heavy science fiction elements with this man's brain that is weird and yet feels grounded enough to be taken seriously. You have a great cast with Simu Liu as Alexander Hale, Melissa Barrera as Michelle, Sinclair Daniel as Parker, Brian d'Arcy James as Peter Moira, Mark O'Brien as Cobb, Kathleen Chalfant as St. George and Marnie McPhail as Frances, who are fantastic in their respective roles. Simu Liu does a great job with his character and making him feel compelling and relatable to the audience and he proves that he is more than just Shang-Chi from the MCU. I also impresses with Melissa Barrera, who is known by most people including myself as one of the best modern day Scream Queens and she gives it her all here as Simu Liu's allie and love interest, while also getting in on the action. Honestly, I hope that she gets casted as Wonder Woman in the DCU because she has earned here and will continue to do so in everything else she's working on. I also found a lot of the side characters to be interesting as well and they play big parts in the story that advance the plot further and not just serve as these background decorations for our two leads. The story goes in some interesting directions with the structure of every episode and showing us what characters are doing and why they are doing it, while also giving these insane twists in the second half that caught me off guard. You get awesome action sequences with amazing fight choreography that are brutal with the physicality of everything going on. And finally, the show does an excellent job at closing out the story arcs for all of the characters perfectly while leaving enough for a possible second season. Overall, The Copenhagen Test (2025-) is pretty much everything I wanted it to be and more as this is one of my favorite shows of 2025 and I can't to see if we get a Season 2 because there is a lot of story that can be explored and I'm all in for that.
