Well done fiction inspired by the events of the American Civil war. The struggle of woman and African Americans is portrayed with nuance and clarity. Several woman heros emerge through and through in this tale. The fear of the southern plantation owners in loosing their free laborers is well represented in this series. The cast is excellant performing , complex good guys and bad . A well done period piece, with costumes and southern cultural manners. I was glad I continued watching it as the first episode gets interesting. The story grows and the characters hold one's interest. An apt rendition of woman's strength in war times. Bravo!
