Interesting camera shots. Solid score. The performances by the leads are pretty rock solid and for the most part top notch. Maybe the story is a touch corny. Maybe a few things plot wise don't make sense. But I'd argue the tone helps to push past the shortcomings. I'd say this is the best directing Harris has done in his career thus far. He's a guy who's locked in on what type of movie he wants to make tonally and that really helps to build the world visually. It's like a cross of True Detective and True Blood. My understanding is the distributor chopped the final act of the film off the end to make it mesh with internal distro mandates. That's cringe and definitely hurts the film.
