I was rooting for this to succeed but not confident that it would. It's actually quite good. The source material is interesting and novel. The story is not based on rehashed formulas. I'm sure some will be turned off by the Christian themes, but it's true to the books on which it was inspired. It would be like resisting Percy Jackson because it's based on Homer. The acting is surprisingly engaging. This does not feel like a first attempt by a new production company with an amateur cast. Having read the books, I would've liked more episodes to cover the same amount of the story on which it is based. Yet, the compression is understandable given the need to appeal to a broad audience. Overall, I commend the effort, including the writing, acting, score, and effects. This was well done. Excited for the remaining episodes. I'm loving it.
