Twisted (2026) is a horror thriller movie directed by Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman and it follows two millennials who flip the NY apartments they don't own to new buyers who don't know they are being scammed which has led to the con working brilliantly on multiple occasions until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them. Now this is a movie that I have been somewhat excited to watch because I am a huge fan of the people involved in the cast, but I was skeptical about it given my past track record with Darren Lynn Bousman, who seems to be a fan favorite filmmaker in the horror genre. Now I don't hate all of Bousman's movies, I just haven't been impressed by him as a filmmaker and I'm always left wanting more. Luckily, that isn't the case with Twisted (2026) which was freaking awesome, not good but awesome. Positives for Twisted (2026): The main thing that worked for me is the ensemble cast consisting of Djimon Hounsou, Lauren LaVera, Mia Healey, Alicia Witt, Neal McDonough and Gina Philips, who are all great in their respective roles. The standout is easily Djimon Hounsou, who is one of the most criminally underrated actors working in Hollywood today, and it was so good to see him get the chance to shine as a main character in a movie and he deserves on that. The guy manages to be charming and terrifying with his actions towards the other characters that kept me invested in the story and seeing what he is trying to do next. I also have to give some love to Lauren LaVera, who we all know as Sienna Shaw from the Terrifier movies, and it was great to see her do something outside of that franchise and she is just as great here she is in those movies. She has the attitude and likability that you want to see from a Scream Queen and I want to see her do something outside of horror in the future. The rest of the supporting cast is great with what they're working with their characters. The story is interesting as you get to see what our two leads are about and what drives them to do what they're doing. There is a good amount of gore and kills that are made with practical effects which is always a plus in horror movies. The movie has a great pace that is consistent to keep you watching, while having time for the story at 93 minutes. And finally, this is the Darren Lynn Bousman movie that I will be rewatching the most in the future. Negatives for Twisted (2026): The only issue I had with this movie was the ending which felt pretty underwhelming especially with the fate of a certain character. Overall, Twisted (2026) is the best movie from Darren Lynn Bousman which is enough to satisfy me. If you're a fan of Darren Lynn Bousman, then I would highly recommend this movie to you.
