I read the novel a few years ago and was intrigued when I found out Disney was doing a limited series based on the novel. I had a few friends come over for a watch party and the party quickly turned into a sad affair as we watched the first couple of episodes. All of us were in agreement that the series didn't live up to the wonderful novel. The characters were so underdeveloped that they didn't feel like the same characters that we grew fond of from the novel. It was obvious that the producers didn't stick to the source material, so much so that we were agast with the deviations that fell before our eyes. As I sat on my couch I began to clench my hands together from the convoluted story and the lackluster acting. In the final moments of the fifth episode we all looked at each other in dismay as without even saying a word we shut off the television, never to return to this atrocity.
