They wanted to make Jaws. They made a shark movie on Netflix. Those are not the same thing. Thrash is watchable in the way that background noise is watchable. It moves, things happen, sharks bite people. But you never care about any of the characters enough to feel anything when they end up in the water. Paper thin doesn't cover it. These people exist purely to either survive or become chum, and the script doesn't bother making the distinction interesting. The production is decent, visuals are fine, and the setting of a flooded town full of bull sharks is genuinely a good premise. It just never does anything original with it. Every scene, every line, every shark attack feels like something you have already seen in a better film. The one genuine highlight is the baby being born in the middle of all this chaos. A pregnant woman, a hurricane, sharks circling, and somehow a newborn enters the world. It almost earns an emotional response. Then the shark immediately tries to eat the baby, and any goodwill evaporates instantly. Not terrible enough to be funny. Not good enough to remember.
