I'm usually not the biggest fan of rom-coms so I didn't really have the highest expectations going into this film and I was honestly pleasantly surprised by this movie. I think there's som pretty good moments throughout the film but it does have some issues for sure but let me start with my positives I think the film is beautifully shot and there's some really great shots with the beautiful setting and I think the movie is able to use the scenery to its advantage show casing some beautiful moments. I think the movie has a really great cast as well and our two leads here are quite solid and Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page both throw in some really solid performances throughout and they both have some great moments and chemistry together while also putting on solid individual performances. The movie is also able to incorporate lots of good comedy for the most part into the film as well and I found myself to unironically laughing a lot throughout the movie as there's a great blend of that throughout the movie. Getting into some of my negatives now the movie is very predictable to say the least and it's very easy to predict what's going to happen because the trailers for tho movie honestly gave away way too much as well and the movie doesn't really have a whole lot of stakes to say the least as well and whenever the movie tries to implement character stakes they just subtract everything for some reason. Also the side characters are way more likeable than our main characters as well and I honestly found myself enjoying them a lot of the time more than our actual leads which isn't the greatest for a rom-com movie between two people. Sometimes the comedy just doesn't stick as well and there's some jokes which didn't hit the landing for me although the movie doesn't have a good amount of jokes that work some just didn't land for me. The ending of the film finally feels super rushed and just not earned like the movie knew it had to wrap up soon so they decided to rush the ending and make it end very abruptly with no stakes sadly. I think this is still a solid time though but I wish it could've been a bit better.
