Good writing, wonderful atmospheric settings, and a solid cast with charismatic interactions. The young cast is particularly promising in their interactions. Some of the dialogue is a bit on-the-nose, not unexpected in a pilot that must cover exposition, but it's not too intrusive. JoJo Fleites as Carlos seems poised to become a breakout star, while the John and Mary actors have an easy, believable chemistry, The story pacing is good, moves along briskly and keeps the audience interest. Jump scares and special effects were better than I expected. It feels very "Buffy" at times, particularly in the warmth between the members of the "Scooby Gang". Overall, a good start, well worth seeing. I look forward to more episodes and the actors growing into their characters.
