Wonderful performances from the entire cast, including an especially emotionally resonant Elijah Tamati. Holy Days is very much seen through Brian's eyes (Elijah's character). It is a playful, whimsical, feel-good, family-friendly film that leans into nostalgia - a reminder of the childlike wonder we all had before the world beat it out of us and replaced it instead with the harsh, cynical and often cruel realities of life. Through that perspective, the film balances humour, imagination, and real heart, and it works. 10/10 would happily watch again. Keen-eyed viewers will also notice the film is very much set in New Zealand, not Australia.
